Washington Park, Milwaukee and McCarty Park, West Allis

One park in central Milwaukee, one in a southern suburb. The pictures were taken one day apart. 'Nuff said.

It's interesting how the Parks Department chooses to allocate their resources.

In the early 1980's, I played Little League Baseball (senior league) at both of those diamonds.

I remember McCarty Park being a better facility but I also remember that there were more people using Washington Park.

In defense of the nicer McCarty Park field, it is used by adult softball and baseball leagues whereas the Washington Park field was always a secondary diamond at best....similar to two other diamonds at McCarty Park...not shown here.

There are only two fields in West Allis of that caliber, as I remember. The other being at Rainbow Park.

Which statement is true?

1) People stopped using the field in Washington Park, therefore the county spent its money on something else.

2) The county took money away from Washington Park, therefore people stopped using it.
