Walker's parks vetoes

County Executive Scott Walker vetoed budget increases for the parks. This despite a rapidly deteriorating parks system that will only get more expensive to fix the longer it is neglected. Here's a pic -- taken a week ago -- of the shoreline of the Washington Park lagoon. Is this really the legacy Walker wants to leave?

Sounds about right; Walker's in office and he's getting paid, no matter how much his city needs his help...

No, that is not the legacy he wants to leave. If he would ever get his way, there would be no parks, just condos, parking lots and highways.

And CARS! Don't forget cars for everyone!

That is without a doubt the least appealing of Walker's beliefs--that a "solution" to our problems involves growing the economy so that everyone can have a car and no one "needs" to use public transit. It is so spectacularly misguided. I suppose he also thinks we should grow the economy so everyone can have his own yard so no one "needs" the parks, either.
